**The commentary is attributed by Uri, Nicoll and Pusey to Ephraem, Syrus, Saint, 303-373. [attributed] In Graf II.107.2 (II, p. 331) MS. Pococke 219, MS. Bodl. Or. 154 and MS. Marsh 440 are listed as having commentaries by Markus ibn al-Qanbar (Ḍarīr ibn al-Mawhūb) 12th cent.; while at II.96.1 (II, p. 289) Pococke 219 is stated to have an anon. Jacobite Syrian commentary in catena form, apparently of the 13th cent.
