Summary of Contents: The first of the two works contained in this volume is a long Turkish mathnawí on religious topics, without title or author's name. It comprises many edifying anecdotes, stories of the Prophets, expositions of Qur'anic texts, etc. Begins: ابتدا قيلدیم حق آدين اى كوكل The colophon (f. 124) is as follows: كتب هذه نسخة شريفة حبيب الله بن محین (?) در زمین قزان و راه آلاط در تریته (?) برسکا (?) و في مدرسة عبد الرحيم بن مولا بیکچتاش (?) The second work (ff. 125-196) is an Arabic treatise on fiqh, defective both at the beginning and the end. The contents include كتاب العتاق (141), كتاب النكاح (159), and كتاب البيع (169).

Provenance and Acquisition

As the MS. was written in Kazan and bears the name of a former owner who belonged to that town, it probably came from there.

Passed to Cambridge University Library in 1936 (the "Browne Bequest").
