Zahr al-riyāḍāt fī dhikr awṣāf al-maqāmāt by Saʿbān Abu ’l-Barakāt b. Muṣṭafā b. Muḥammad Dūdū
Composed mostly in praise of distinguished Muslim saints of Egypt by the Egyptian mystic Shaʿbān Abu al-Barakat, who died towards the end of the 17th century CE. The names of the saints praised are listed in the printed catalogue (Mingana). The site of the saints' tombs are frequently mentioned in the headings.
Autograph. Finished in 1088/1677; folio 219a: وكان الفراخ من تسطيره ... في شهر رجب ... من شهور سنه ثمان وثمانين والف
There is a frequent mention of Egypt in the work (e.g. folios 69a, 104a).

Provenance and Acquisition
Formerly part of the collection of the Persian scholar Nathaniel Bland (1803-1865). Bland’s oriental manuscripts were sold through Bernard Quaritch in 1866 to Alexander Lindsay, 25th Earl of Crawford.
Purchased by Enriqueta Rylands in 1901 from James Ludovic Lindsay, 26th Earl of Crawford, for the John Rylands Library.
