Summary of Contents: Collection of rare miscellaneous poetry and prose works on Sufism by or ascribed to Shaykh ʿAbd al-Bāqī, described erroneously on the title page (f. 6r) as his kullīyāt. Volume dated in item f, 4 Muḥarram RY 25 of Emperor Muḥammad Shāh (1156)/28 February 1743. Rough nastaʿlīq hand. Folios damaged by wormholes. Folios subsequently rebound in IOL red half leather binding, stamp dated 28 June 1916.

Item a.

Untitled collection of correspondence commenting on various occult, magical, doctrinal, and exegetical matters.

Although the author does not identify himself in the work, an ascription on the title page (f. 6r) identifies the author as Khvājah Bīrang Muḥammad al-Bāqī, that is, the Naqshbandī saint, Khvājah Muḥammad Bāqī ibn ʿAbd al-Salām (d. 1012/1603, at Delhi), better known as Shaykh ʿAbd al-Bāqī and Bāqī Billāh, who was also the spiritual preceptor of the Mujaddidī Naqshbandī saint, Shaykh Aḥmad Fārūqī (d. 1624).

The collection was evidently compiled by a devoted disciple, who remains unidentified.

This work is preceded (ff. 1v-6r) by an informal collection of transcripts for letters addressed to various Naqshbandī figures (including Shaykh Aḥmad [Sihrindī]), generally themed around points of theological and mystical details.

Untitled journal and biographical sketch, covering the period 1 Ṣafar 1009-25 Jumādá II 1012/12 August 1600-30 November 1603, on the life of the Naqshbandī saint, Khvājah Muḥammad Bāqī ibn ʿAbd al-Salām (d. 1012/1603, at Delhi), better known as Shaykh ʿAbd al-Bāqī and Bāqī Billāh, who was also the spiritual preceptor of the Mujaddidī Naqshbandī saint, Shaykh Aḥmad Fārūqī (d. 1624).

This account is useful for its information on the initiation and training of novices in the Naqshbandī order, and the final days of the saint’s life.

The work concludes with the unnamed author’s elegies in honour of his master.
