Rare copy of an anonymous Persian translation of the collection of sermons entitled Jāmiʿ al-favāʾid delivered to his disciples by Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī (d. 561/1166) and edited by his son, Sharaf al-Dīn ʿĪsá.
The translation was intended as a study aid for students.
Dated colophon (f. 608v): completed by Fakhr al-Dīn Ḥasanī al-Jīlānī on Monday, 27 Rabīʿ II 1147/26 September 1734.
The work is followed on the last leaf (f. 609) by a brief unrelated text on the Prophet Muḥammad . This is accompanied in a different hand (upper right corner) with a detailed description of the manuscript’s specific features with raqm annotations (foliation, verses, rubrication, binding, scribe’s compensation and grant, collator’s compensation, and total valuation).
Second folio (beginning of text) may be a replacement; folios damaged by wormholes and water stains; repaired with net overlay; rebound in a red India Office Library binding.
