Summary of Contents: A collection of anecdotes by Fakhr al-Dīn ʿAlī ibn Ḥusayn Vāʿiẓ Kāshifī known as al-Ṣafī (1463-1532 or 3), the son of Ḥusayn Vāʿiẓ Kāshifī, who compiled it in Gharjistan for the amusement of the Sulṭān, S̲h̲āh Muḥammad.Physical Description

Nastaʻlīq; copied in black ink, with headings and overlinings in red.

Brown leather 19th century Indian binding with rectangular border frames, outer border decorated with stamped circular motif.
History
Origin: Undated, probably 18th century; CE ; IndiaProvenance and Acquisition
Formerly owned by Lieutenant-Colonel William Anderson (1803-1858) who served as Commandant of Shah Shuja's 2nd Cavalry during the 1st Afghan War (1838-1842).
Purchased as one of 25 vols for a total of £7.0.6 at sale of Sotheby, Wilkins & Hodge on 16 March 1909. Ref IOR/L/R/6/309 no 546.
