Works by Ni'mat Khan 'Ali

1 copy of a work by Niʿmat Khān ʿĀlī

Untitled compendious collection of prose (e.g., prefaces, letters, history) and poetry indicating this volume is a kullīyāt of the Iranian-born Timurid or Mughal court poet and courtier, Niʿmat Khān, also known as Dānishmand Khān, with the poetic pseudonym ʿĀlī

Coloured and gilt rulings throughout; illuminated head pieces at the beginning of most sections probably added later; transcribed in shikastah and shafīʿah

Poor condition, with detaching text panels due to degrading pigments on thin paper

Some careful philological annotations added in margins, with reference to the Farhang-i Jahāngīrī

Note on verso of first flyleaf and last (f. 271v): Fullekghar 1858

Multiple dated colophons at end of each major section (ff. 16v, 44v, 119v, 131r, 271v) indicating either a non-sequential order of production or that individual parts have been bound in an order different to order of completion: 1) completed 13 Rajab 1148/29 November 1735 in the ṣūbah of dār al-khilāfah Shāhjahān'ābād; 2) completed 16 Rajab 1148/2 December 1735 in the ṣūbah of Shāhjahān'ābād; 3) completed 4 Rajab 1148/20 November 1735 in the city of Dihlī; 4) completed 10 Shavvāl 1148/23 February 1736 in the ṣūbah of Shāhjahān'ābād; 5) completed 16 Ramaz̤ān 1148/30 January 1736 in the ṣūbah of Dihlī
