Selection from the larger Persian biographical dictionary of poets (with quotations of verses), the Majmaʿ al-nifāʾis of Sirāj al-Dīn ʿAlī Khān "Ārzū," apparently ordered by the Timurid or Mughal Emperor Shāh ʿĀlam in regnal year 4 (1177 / 1763), possibly while in Bengal, under the vice-regency of the Navvāb-Nāẓim Qāsim ʿAlī Khān
Consists of approximately 200 entries, mostly of poets connected with South Asia, extending from a-y: "Ījād" to "Yaktā"
Preface differs from other standard editions
The compilor or epitomaton is not mentioned. However, a note on the title page in the hand of William Irvine states, "Āsā Rām made this abridgement"
