Excerpts from a larger collection of letters found in the library of Rajah Chhabelah Ram of Gujarat, the compilor's paternal uncle, put into order for educational purposes and as a memorial to his ancestors (aslāf)
Fragments consist of the beginning and very end portions, amounting to approximately a third of the orginal work
The author variously worked as munshīʾ for Sayyid ʿAbd Allāh Khān the mīr jumlah, Rawshan al-Dawlah Ẓafar Khān, and finally the vazīr al-mamālik, Chīn Qilīch Khān Āṣaf Jāh, under whose patronage he was appointed the nāʾib dīvān-i khāliṣah-yi sharīfah
