Four detached leaves consisting of material relating to the Persian correspondence of Muḥammad Shafīʿ, the Qajar Prime Minister, with Jacob Bosanquet regarding Sir Harford Jones, ambassador appointed by the British Government
F. 1r: Large letter or murāsilah lacking any seal, header, or invocation recognising Sir Harford Jones, Baronet (Sar Harfurd Juns Bārūnat ṣāḥib bahādur) as the appointed ṣafīr or ambassador of the English (Ingalīs); not dated; transcribed in rough shikastah āmīz, cropped and mounted with cloth backing; faint IOL stamp impression dated [2]3 Nov 1926; 674 x 400 mm; English translation (IO Islamic 4226) refers to the letter ending with the seal of Muhammad Safi (sic), which is not present, indicating the letter has been cropped and is not in its original condition; old fold lines; stains
F. 2r: Narrow horizontal slip, probably part of the original pale blue paper cover to f. 1, with a Persian inscription addressing the murāsilah to Jacob Bosanquet (mistar Yaʿqūb Buzunkit), the buzurg-i kūmpānī, the East India Company Chairman; inscription erased on lower left edge; IOL stamp impression dated 23 Nov 1926; 303 x 84 mm
F. 3r: Narrow horizontal slip, probably part of the original pale blue paper cover to f. 1, with a Persian inscription addressing the murāsilah to Jacob Bosanquet (mistar Yaʿqūb Buzunkit); inscription erased on lower left edge (possibly an invocation); IOL stamp impression dated 23 Nov 1926; 325 x 80 mm
