Persian translation of Chaghnini's treatise on astronomy

1 copy of Ghiyās̲īyah by Maḥmūd ibn Muḥammad Haravī

A rare brief treatise on astronomy, completed in 803/1400-1, by Maḥmūd ibn Muḥammad Haravī, who was apparently vizier to Shah Rukh. Essentially a translation of Chaghmīnī’s Arabic treatise al-Mulakhkhaṣ fī l-hay’a, Ghiyāsiyya comprises a muqaddima and two maqālas. It is dedicated (henced the title) to Ghiyās al-Dīn Sayyid Aḥmad Haravī.

For details on Ghiyāsiyya, see FNKhF I, p. 331, which lists only three manuscripts. Muḥammad ibn Maḥmūd Haravī does not appear in Storey, PL, which does however include two Persian commentaries on Chaghmīnī (see PL II/1 E, p. 50. For Chaghmīnī and his Mulakhkhaṣ see Storey, loc. cit.; Brockelmann, GAL I, p. 473 and S I, p. 865.
