Contents
1 copy of Dar bayān-i ʿilm-i tashrīḥ
A treatise on anatomy, together with a large number of miscellaneous notes. The author mentions in the preface that he was brought from a college in Vienna to teach at the Dar al-Funun (in Tehran) by order of Nāṣir al-Dīn Shāh (reg. 1264-1313/1848-96), who was evidently alive at the time of writing. Possibly he may be identified as ‘Alī Akbar Nafīsī (1263-1324/1847-1924; father of the distinguished literary scholar Sa‘īd Nafīsī. For ‘Alī Akbar Nafīsī, who wrote a work entitled Pizishkī-nāma on materia medica and therapeutics as well as a Persian grammar and dictionary, see Storey PL II/2, pp. 307-8.
The text is written on notebook or exercise book pages divided horizontally into four bands. In some places the text is written diagonally. Some folios contain tables.
