A commentary on Qur’ān Sūra 1, al-Fātiḥa, and on Sūra 2, al-Baqara, āyāt 1-222. No title or author’s name is given. The text is divided into two parts. There is a colophon at the end of Juz’ 1, followed by one blank folio; the commentary on Juz’ 2 commences with a preface. Persian speaking copyist; a note in Persian on f. 122r signals a lacuna (2:150-155) in the source text.

Colophon, f. 98r, at the end of Juz’ 1. This gives Dhū l-Ḥijja 1260/Dec. 1844-Jan 1845 as the date of composition and dated 25 Shavvāl 1311/1 May 1894 as the date of copying.

Neat riq‘a script. 19 lines. Qur’ānic text written in red. Slightly yellowish laid paper. 175 folios. 203 x 127 mm.; text area 136 x 73 mm. Modern red morocco binding.
