Untitled commentary on daftar V-VI of the Mas̲navī-'i maʿnavī of Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī (d. 670/1271) by Mawlānā Muḥammad ʿAbd al-ʿAlī Ṣāḥib ibn Quṭb al-Dīn, composed circa 1700.
Dated colophon (f. 235r): completed by Jīvan Bayg ibn ʿĀshūr Bayg ibn Rashīd Bayg of the Badakhshī Mughul qawm, 20 Jumādá I 1252/2 September 1836, Christian Era stated as 1837, in the reign of Emperor Akbar [II].
Rough nastaʿlīq on burnished English (?) laid paper with manufacturer’s watermarks (seated Britannia or Minerva in a crowned circular frame; J Keys Co. 1828).
Occasional annotations and corrections in margins.
Stamped and Persian foliation.
Lacking original binding. Current decaying leather binding postdates 1862 (watermarked interleaf: S Dawton & Son 1862); end board detached.
Folios bound; damp and fungal damage; ink smudged or transferred in parts.
Condition fragile.
