Incomplete volume of a once splendidly transcribed copy of daftars I, V-VI of the Mas̲navī-'i maʿnavī by Rūmī Mawlānā Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad Bahāʾ al-Dīn Valad Balkhī (d. 670/1271).

It is clear from discrepancies in the original Persian foliation that substantial portions of this volume were missing before the addition of stamped foliation in the IOL.

Dated colophon (f. 154v): completed Friday, 22 Z̲ī al-Ḥijjah 1007/16 July 1599.

Illuminated frontispieces at the beginning of each daftar (ff. 1v-2r, 24v, 87v), neat gold, black, and blue rulings throughout.

Excellent calligraphic nastaʿlīq-i khafī throughout.

Annotations and corrections in margins and interlinear spaces throughout.

Stamped and Persian foliation.

Lacking original binding. Detached and damaged leather binding (blind tooled medallions with painted rulings on dark brown leather; reddish brown leather doublures); delaminated; wormholes.

Folios unbound; cropped, wormholes, creased, water and fungal stains, later repairs.

Substantial areas of text lost in parts.

Ownership marks and possible seal impressions erased at beginning.

Condition extremely fragile.
