Summary of Contents: Miscellaneous collection of works on the interpretation of dreams and Sufism. Volume not dated, but probably transcribed and compiled by the same scribe as that of item a, dated 16 Muḥarram 1198/11 December 1783. Rough to good nastaʿlīq, shikastah āmīz, and naskh. Annotations and corrections in margins, including marks of collation. Stamped foliation. Gilded, painted and tooled leather binding, with central and corner medallions, doublures of pale pink paper, damaged; delaminating pasteboards, spine detached. Labels on front board. Folios mostly bound; wormholes, later repairs; cropped. However, where edges are not cropped, they have been folded in. Condition fragile.

Item a.

Persian extended translation by Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh of the famous Arabic treatise, the Kitāb taʿbīr al-ruʾyā by Sharaf al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn (d. 110/728), on the subject of oneiromancy or the art of interpreting dreams, especially when used to divine the future.

This work, written at the request of the author’s ustādān or masters, abridges the original and amplifies it with the addition of an explanatory introduction and as commentary.

The work consists of fifty-nine bāb, listed in the introduction.

Dated colophon (f. 152v): completed by Khvājah Muḥammad Saʿīd on Friday, 16 Muḥarram 1198/11 December 1783.

Item b.

Untitled Naqshbandī Ṣūfī mas̲navī on the subjects of seclusion, z̲ikr-i khafī or inner remembrance, and Naqshbandī spiritual succession in India, by an unnamed poet.

The work ending on folio 166v is followed by a collection of munājāt and naʿt (both in ghazal form) and separate ghazals attributed to Ḥāfiẓ Shīrāzī, Ḥaqqānī, and possible Maẓhar Jānjānān also.

Item c.

Excerpt from an untitled collection of hagiographic ḥikāyāt or anecdotes relating to the life of the originator of the Qādirīyah Ṣūfī order, ʿAbd al-Qādir Jīlānī (d. 561/1166), by an unnamed compiler.

The work begins with ḥikāyat hundred-and-one, and although the numbering continues, its drops off after ḥikāyat hundred-and-four.

The work is possibly defective at the end, as the text breaks off abruptly without conclusion.

Incomplete fragment of the popular Ṣūfī treatise compiling the private utterances and austere aphorisms of Khvājah ʿAbd Allāh Anṣārī, that is Abū Ismāʿīl ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad Anṣārī Hiravī (d. 481/1088).

The work is followed on an adjacent flyleaf (f. 190r) by a mnemotechnical rubāʿī ascribed to the Timurid ruler Ulugh Bayg on the subject of the Turkish duodenary calendar.
