Compendium of Twelver Shi'ism by ʿAbd al-Razzāq ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Lāhijī, dedicated to Shāh ʿAbbās II Ṣafavī(r. 1052-1077/1642-1667).
The work comprises a muqaddimah, three maqālah, concluding with a khātimah.
Dated colophon, damaged (f. 136v): written in haste, Thursday, 6 [Rama]z̤ān 1122/9 October 1710.
Rounded naskh.
Annotations and correction in margins; collation marks.
Diagrams of the irregular orbit of the moon around the earth (f. 17v); the latitudinal division of the earth into iqlīm or climes (f. 19r); orbits and divisions of the heavens (ff. 76v-77v).
Stamped foliation.
Multiple phases of Persian foliation added on upper extended margins and lower edge.
Later dark brown, blind tooled leather covers lacking inner boards.
Folios loose and disarranged, with several lacunae; severely affected by wormholes, stains, tears, creases, and aggressive copping; later repairs.
