The perpetual calendar of Şeyḫ Vefā, i. e. Muṣṭafā bin Aḥmed aṣ-Ṣadrī el-Künevī, called Musliḥuddīn Vefā, who flourished in the reign of Sulṭān Muḥammed II (AH 855-886=AD 1451-1481) and died AH 896=AD 1491, in that of Sulṭān Bāyezīd II (AH 886-918=AD 1481-1512), see Rieu, pp. 122 and 123. G. Flügel ii. pp. 247 and 493 sq. wrongly ascribes this calendar to the author of the history of the campaigns of Sulṭān Murad III (تواريخ غزوات سلطان مراد ثالث), Şeyḫ Muḥammed Vefā or Vefā'ī, who flourished about AH 994=AD 1586; see Rieu's remarks on this point and Fleischer, Cat. Lips., p. 432a, where a copy of the روزنامه, with the date AH 954 AD 1547 is noticed; comp. also Krafft, pp. 141 and 142; J. Aumer, p. 66; G. Flügel iii. pp. 519 and 545; and W. Pertsch, Berlin Cat., p. 193 (No. 172, which, although described without an author's name, is quite identical with our present روزنامه), and G. H. Velschius: Commentarius in Ruzname Naurus sive tabulae aequinoctiales novi Persarum et Turcicarum anni,' Augsburg, 1576, in which an engraved facsimile of Şeyḫ Vefā's روزنامه has been published. This copy, agreeing with No. 172 in the Berlin Collection and No. 1426 in the Vienna Library, begins with two chronological circles, the دائره نوروز سلطانی and the دائرة كبيسا (or rather کبیسه, the circle of the leap-year), see pp. 4 and 5 of the Turkish text in the edition of Velschius; after which follow the tables of the twelve Syrian months, commencing with ماه آذر, arranged exactly as the first Vienna copy.
