History
Origin: According to the colophon, the scribe hailed from ʿAqrah ( عقرة ʿAqra in Arabic; ئاكرێ Akrê in modern Kurdish), though we cannot be sure if this is where the manuscript was produced ; late Jumādā al-awwal 1234 AH; early March 1819 CE -- though the word read as مائتین (200) has been smudged, and might also be read as مائة (100), yeilding 1722 as opposed to 1819. Still, the presence of an amīr named Ismāʿīl Pasha in the region of ʿAqrah in the early half of the 1800s suggests the former reading is more likely.Provenance and Acquisition
According to the colophon, made for a certain Mūsá Bēg bin Ismāʿīl Paşa موسی بیک بن اسماعیل پاشا -- the latter possibly referring to Amīr Ismāʿīl Paşa I of Zakho اسماعیل پاشا.
A note on the inside of the front cover reads "Bt (1.3.09) from J. J. Naaman".
