The preface is missing here; the copy begins at once with the first reference-table of the six small circles, at the top of which appears (as on fol. 3b in the preceding copy) the beyt: اول بو آلت دائرہ یہ ایلکل نظر الخ. On fol. 1a the work is bluntly stated to be absolutely identical with Caʿfer-i Ṣādıḳ's جليل القواعد و جزيل الفوائد (see the preface in the preceding copy). Dated in the month Rebīʿü l-āḫir, AH 963 = AD 1556, Febr./March.

A tract on physiognomy, translated from the Arabic work of Şemsüddīn Ebū ʿAbdüllāh Muḥammed bin Abī Ṭālib el-Enṣārī aṣ-Ṣūfī el-Ḳadīm ʿIşḳī, the Şeyḫ of the monastery of Rübvet, entitled كتاب الادب والسياسة القياسة في علم النظر و الفراسة, which in Pertsch's copy was composed A. H. 757=A. D. 1536, see here fol. 52a, ln. 5 and 6, and W. Pertsch, Berlin Cat., pp. 75, 76; comp. also H. Khalfa vi. p. 315, No. 13632, where the full name of the author is given and another work of his, the (with which the a, ib. ii. p. 226, No. 2579, is probably identical), is quoted. The Turkish translator was Muḥammed bin Iyās. If the date of the Arabic author's death, as given in the Arabic Cat. of the Brit. Museum, ii. p. 824a (index), were correct, viz. A. H. 727, the year 757 must needs be the date of the translation, but the context seems to exclude this assumption and clearly to refer to the composition of the original work. It contains eleven JJs and twenty-seven, although the index (on fol. 53b) only enumerates twenty-six (agreeing with the statement in W..Pertsch, loc. cit.), that is to say, the bābs in the index agree as far as the ninth with the actual arrangement of the work, but the tenth bāb of the text (s), on fol. 62, last line, is omitted in the index, and consequently the tenth bāb of the latter is the eleventh of the text and so on to the end. Beginning in Pertsch's copy: شکر بي قياس اول واجب الوجود الوجود وحدانيتينه که اجسام انسانیه انسانیه ی کندو قدرتله قرق صباح تخمیر ایلیوب. Heading of the first bāb, on fol. 53b: باشنك قیافتی بیاننده (afterwards باشوك); heading of the last (the twenty-seventh), on fol. 69b: حیوانڭ و طیور و حشرات ارضک قیافتی بیاننده; the twenty-sixth bāb is found on fol. 68b. Dated Receb, A. H. 963=A. D. 1556, May-June.
