The Turkish translation of the first two ḳısms of Zamakhsharī's مقدمة الادب or philological prolegomena, the famous Arabic-Persian dictionary, edited by J. G. Wetzstein, Leipzig, 1850 (see No. 1633 above). This Turkish paraphrase was made by Mullā Aḥmed bin Ḫayreddīn el-Brusavī, commonly called Ḫvāce İsḥāk Efendi, who died A. H. 1120=A. D. 1708/1709; comp. G. Flügel i. pp. 96-97; Rieu, p. 134b; H. Khalfa vi. p. 76, No. 12758; J. Aumer, No. 216, etc. Our copy contains, like Flügel's, only the first two ḳısms, viz. the nouns (قسم الاسما), on fol. 2b, and the verbs (قسم في الافعال) on fol. 34b, and goes down as far as p. 286 in Wetzstein's edition. Ḳısms 3-5 (the particles, the declension of nouns, and the conjugation of verbs), as well as the translator's preface, are wanting; the copy begins immediately with the initial words of the Arabic original: الحمد حمد الله اللهيچوندر الذي جميع ايله الله که فضل ارتق اتدى على جميع الألسن جميع دللر اوزينه لسان العرب عرب دلني الخ.
