Another excellent copy of Ḫaṭīb Rüstem el-Mevlevī's Persian-Turkish vocabulary, defective in some parts, but much fuller than the one described in No. 1687 above, in other parts. It was completed in Şaʿbān, A. H. 903 A. D. 1498, March-April. Beginning: الحمد لله ربّ الارباب مُيسّر الميسر و الصعاب; comp. besides the authorities mentioned in No. 1687, W. Pertsch, Berlin Persian Cat., p. 174. First bab, on fol. 2. Infinitives in alphabetical order; all the Persian words with a red line; the Turkish explanation is here much fuller, as in No. 1687; the Turkish explanatory verses and the Arabic quotations are added here on the margin. This bāb ends on fol. 22a, lin. penult., corresponding to fol. 21a, 1. 3 in the above copy. The appendix on plurals of infinitives and on transitive verbs, which follows there immediately, is not found here; but there is instead on ff. 22a, last line-29a, 1. 5, an interesting chapter with clever remarks on the دال مهمل, the ذال معجم, the همزه مفتوحه (final ا), the الف ممدودة (initial آ), the باء مفتوحه (preposition ب), the تاء ساکن (pronoun of the second person), the زاء مكسور و مفتوح (abbreviated ز in زنادان and زانکه), the شين ساکنان (the ش as pronoun of the third person and as اسم مصدر), the میم ساکن (pronoun of the first person), the نون ساکن (the علامت مصدر or ن of the infinitive), etc., and the meaning of other letters used as prefixes or suffixes. The second bab, the conjugation of verbs, seems to be entirely missing here, since on fol. 29a apparently begins (without a heading) the Third bab: nouns, corresponding to fol. 53b in No. 1687; it is arranged in alphabetical order, and fills ff. 29-220. This bāb is many times as large as the corresponding bāb in No. 1687, with a full Turkish explanation of each Persian noun, and occasional Turkish as well as Arabic and Persian quotations and verses on the margin. The ḫātime is not found in this copy. No date.
