Summary of Contents: قرابادین نوح بن عبد المنان A Turkish Qarábádin, or Materia Medica, compiled by Núb ibn 'Abdi'l-
Mannán in the reign of Sultan Ahmad 111 (1115-1143/1703-1730), beginning: .. بعد ازین بو فقیر قلیل

البضاعه، و ضعيف الاستطاعه الرّاجي من الملك الرحمان نوح بن عبد المنان، عنفوان شبابدن هنگام كهولته گلنجيه دك The author says that he began the study of Medicine in early youth, and, after
practising it privately for twelve years, attracted the favourable notice of Sultán
Muhammad IV (1058-1099/1648-1687), during whose reign he held for 27 years (1106-1115/1695-1703) he was Chief Physician and Chief Minister of Rumelia: 11 During the reign of Sultan Mustafa ریاست جراحين) the post of Chief Surgeon ... مدت سلطنتلری اولان طقوز سنه دن متجاوز زمانده سر اطبا و پایۀ صدارت روم ایلی (12) ایله كامروا اولوب . and he continued to enjoy the favour of the succeeding Sultán Aḥmad III (1115-
1143/1703-1730), to whom, apparently, the present work is dedicated. The prescriptions are arranged according to the form in which they are made
up, such as confections (maji), draughts (shardib), powders (suff), etc. A full
table of contents occupies ff. 1-9". The MS., bought of 'Abdu'l-Majid Belshah in January, 1920, is dated 1140/
1727-8, comprises 210 ff. of 29 x 18'4 c. and 17 ll., and is written throughout in
a large, clear naskh with rubrications. Many of the prescriptions are ascribed to
Galen, Másawayhi, ar-Rází (b), Níqúlá, and to the author himself.
