Some marginal notes in pencil in English. First folio, verso: within a circle '7' in ink, beside 'Briggs' in pencil. Pasted inside back cover: printed slip 'Lieut. Col. Briggs.' A copy of the second edition, with additions by the author's son Mir 'Abd al-Hayy Samsam al-Mulk. The MS was written at the prompting of Colonel John Briggs. See colophon.

Binding

Reddish brown leather Indian binding with gilt-stamped and painted decoration. Red headings and punctuation. A large and well-written manuscript in excellent condition. Headings are written in black vertically in the margins, presumably as a guide to the rubricator. Many of these have been trimmed in the course of binding.

History

Origin: Awrangabad. Rabi' I 1242.
