Lacking the initial folio. F2a: a) impression of small seal of bandah-i dargah(-i?) Muhammad Shah, undated. b) Impression of rectangular seal of the slave Hakim N L PR walad? AYD, dated 1147 (1734-5), 1157 (1744-5) and 1162 (1748-9). F252a. a) Impression of oval seal. Inscription similar to b) above. Dated 1147. b) Notice of purchase of the three volumes for 20 (perhaps 25) rupees on 2 Safar 1142 ((27 September 1729 - sic), with the knowledge of Muhammad Subhan (?). Above this, note in English: *corresponding with the 15th of August A D 1729 the three volumes described to be purchased for 25 rupees N.B. in the year 1802 the same volumes cost 350 rupees c) Note of purchase dated 25 Rajab 1145 (11 January 1733), next to impression of small rectangular seal, inscription and date not read. Pencil notes in margins of first few pages, evidently written by David Price. Loose within the volume are two items connected with Price: a) A printed notice from a London milliner, Ann Dyke, dated 1829 and addressed to Mrs Price, Brecon, with various notes, evidently by Price. b) Cover of a letter from Mrs Griffiths to Mrs Price with similar notes. Front flyleaf, in Persian: elaborate recipe for turnip stew. Wrongly described as Mu'alijat-i Dara Shikuhi in the catalogues and notes on the MSS; 'Ilajat-i Dara Shikuhi on f3b. A large and wide-ranging medical encyclopedia. Dedicated to the Mughal prince Dara Shikuh, who is described as heir apparent to Shah Jahan (f2b). Headings and punctuation in red. In the margins of folios 236-240 are illustrations of carafes containing urine specimens of different colours. Occasional diagrams and tables: ff62b, 87a, 88a.
