1 copy of Mukātabāt-i ʻAllāmī by Abū al-Faz̤l ibn Mubārak 1551-1602

A sumptous manuscript on gold-sprinkled paper. The text in the centre of each page is enclosed by ruled margins with a wide strip of gold and written on a panel of a different paper from the margins, into which it is inset. The text of each page is continued in margin panels written diagonally. The writing is outlined with gold edged with black. Headings are in blue. The pages are interleaved with tissue. Letters and other compositions of Abul Fadl. Apparently a complete copy. A long 'colophon' states that the MS was written as a gift from the son of a certain Husain Khan for Ihtisham al-Daula Muhtasham al-Mulk Mistir Idmunsin Sahib Bahadur Hishmat Jang, i.e., Neil Benjamin Edmonstone who bequathed the manuscript to the Society.
