Inside front cover: Presented to the Oriental Translation Committee of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland by Col. Francklin A.D. 1835. (Written by Francklin?) On European paper, watermarked with heraldic device and G R. Songs of lamentation recited at Muharram by the Shi'ah in commemoration of the martyrdoms of the Imams and their families. Red used for headings and emphasis.
