1 copy of Mas̲navī by Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī
Book 6. The initial entry is written on a page inserted in the Library copy of Codrington, before page 545. The last folio is upside down and back to front, but agrees with the catchword of the preceding page. Bound in towards the end are two folios explaining an allusion in the text to a problem of algebra. This is said to come from a work called Lata'if al-Mathnawi, which is also named in marginal notes on the preceding and penultimate page, and elsewhere. This is probably the seventeenth-century Lata'if al-Ma'nawi min Haqa'iq al-Mathnawi of 'Abd al-Latif al-'Abbasi. (Rieu, ii, p. 590; Ethe, No 1101.) F1a: a) Note in Arabic about weaning, from the Mukhtar al-Fatawa. b) Note of purchase from Mir Amin al-Din Sahib Najafi in A.H. 1171, next to impression of the rectangular seal of Mahmud, dated 1169. c) Note of purchase from Mirza Murad 'Ali the bookseller by 'Abd al-'Ali al-Husaini on 2 Rajab A.H. 1255. Last page: Note of ownership of Kifayatallah son of Shaikh 'Abd al-Rasul b. Shaikh Khwaja b. Shaikh Fath Muhammad. Headings in red.
