1 copy of Mirʼāt-i dawlat-i ʻAbbāsī by Dawlat Rāy
Third front flyleaf, recto: note signed by C.M. Wade noting that the book was given to him by the Nawwab during his mission to Bahawulpur in 1832-3. Between third front flyleaf and f1 two notes by Wade dated 30 October 1848 are attached to bound in slips. One is concerned with the presentation of manuscripts to the Society by Wade, the other with the present MS, the provenance of which is described. The Nawwab is here named as Muhammad Khan. A history of the Dawud-putras, the family of the Nawabs of Bhawalpur, from their origin to A.H. 1224. Illuminated panel at beginning of text. Ruled margins. Headings and punctuation in red. Marginal glosses in red.

Binding
Dark brown leather Oriental binding with stamped gilt and coloured and painted gilt decoration. Two small cartouches on both front and back covers with inscription 'Sarkar-i Nawwab Muhammad Bahawul Khan 'Abbasi. Doublures of light brown leather with ruled gilt margins. Spine replaced with funds from the Carnegie U.K. Trust Fund in 1929.

Provenance and Acquisition
Presented by Sir Claude Wade, to whom it had been given by the Nawwab Muhammad Khan [III?]on his mission to his court in 1832-3..
