Summary of Contents: Substantial fragment from a large compendious collection of muntakhab or selected humorous and moral poetry and refined prose works by the noted poet and satirist of late Ilkhanid Iran, based at the Muzaffarid court of Shiraz and thus senior contemporary of the famous Shams al-Dīn Ḥāfiẓ, Khvājah ʿUbayd Zākānī(d. 772/1371), here named Najm al-Dīn, and not, as specified by Rypka, Niẓām al-Dīn. Volume not dated; datable to mid-sixteenth to mid-seventeenth centuries. Neat scribal nastaʿlīq. Limited annotations in margins. Stamped and Persian foliation. Lacking original binding. Binding, red half leather IOL covers, dated 8/8/[19]23. Folios bound, occasional lacunae; stains, cropped, warping and cockling, wormholes, later repairs, gauze overlay. Condition fair.

Preface by an unnamed compiler introducing a selection of fourteen works by the poet and satirist of Muzaffarid Shiraz, ʿUbayd Zākānī(d. 772/1371), here named Najm al-Dīn, and not, as specified by Rypka, Niẓām al-Dīn.

The present volume contains works numbering less than the quantity of fourteen specified here.

The flyleaf before the first folio bears the ink transfer in reverse of an inscription found on f. 130v, indicating the latter has been bound in the wrong order.

Ethical treatise collecting moral dicta in the form of a vaṣīyator last will and testament attributed to Aflātūnor Plato, who supposedly composed it for the instruction of his student Arisṭūor Aristotle, subsequently translated from the Greek to Persian and appended to the Akhlāq-i Nāṣirīby Khvājah Naṣīr al-Dīn Ṭūsī, and here restyled by the poet and satirist of Muzaffarid Shiraz, ʿUbayd Zākānī (d. 772/1371), in 750/1349 (here incorrectly written 950/1543).
