1 copy of Taz̲kirat al-awliyāʾ by ʿAṭṭār
Substantial fragment of a damaged, though high-quality manuscript comprising a later augmented recension of the famous collection of hagiographic biographies, the Taz̲kirat al-awliyāʾby Shaykh Abū Ḥāmid Farīd al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm Nayshāpūrī takhalluṣ ʿAṭṭār(d. circa 627/1230).
This recension rearranges original entries with additional entries otherwise unknown in an order dissimilar to that found in the earliest reliable manuscript copies, ending abruptly at a point that can be conjectured to having lost approximately sixteen entries before the formal conclusion in complete manuscripts of the later augmented recension.
Defective, omitting the preface and first entry from the beginning, as well as a number of entries from the end.
Not dated at end; datable to early-sixteenth-century Iran or India.
Gilt and polychrome rulings throughout; gilt rulings occasionally replaced with yellow pigment toward the end.
Corrections and dense annotations (ff. 186r, 248r, 248r-249r, for example); annotations erased ff. 153v-154r.
Rebound in IOL red half leather covers, stamp dated 13 Feb 1925.
Folios remounted on guards; cropped, prominently stained up to the lower half, wormholes, later repairs.
