European numerals in pencil; only the final folio is numerated.
Condition
The textblock is in excellent condition, suffering only from minor discolouration around the edge of the pages. However, the binding has come almost completely loose from the folios.
Layout
Neat layout of eleven lines in one column per page.
Hand(s)
Very near black nastaʿlīq.
Decoration
On the endpaper before f1r, Jones has written: "W. Jones: The Gulistān literally and coarsely translated into Hindustani"
Binding
Brown leather and board binding which has suffered some visible worm damage with gilded pattern around the edge.

Provenance and Acquisition
RSPA 1-118 were presented to the Royal Society in January 1792 by Sir William and Lady Jones. According to Wilkins, this manuscript was presented by Sir William Jones.
The Royal Society's collection of 280 Persian and Arabic, and 86 Sanskrit manuscripts were transferred to the India Office Library in 1876.
