1 copy of Dīvān-i Jāmī by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Jāmī

This manuscript includes both parts of Jāmī's first dīvān.
The ghazals begin on f60r; the muqaṭṭaʿāt begin on f294r; the rubāʿiyyāt begin on f297v.
On f1r, there are five seals. Only one of these remains at all legible, that of (Ṣ?)amnat Khān, dated 1130AH (1717-8).
On f0r, Jones notes that the manuscript was a gift from Francis Gladwin on the 5th November 1783.
There is a blue and gold headpiece on f1v that is designed to evoke the Kaʿbah.

European numerals in pencil.
Condition
Extensive worm damage has been mostly repaired.

Elegant and thin black ink nastaʿlīq.
Decoration
Gilded ruled margins.
On f0r and f0v, Jones has written out a title page and contents, listing the subject of the first 36 odes.
Binding
Standard India Office half-leather binding with wine-coloured marbled endpapers.

Provenance and Acquisition
RSPA 1-118 were presented to the Royal Society in January 1792 by Sir William and Lady Jones. This manuscript was presented by Lady Jones.
The Royal Society's collection of 280 Persian and Arabic, and 86 Sanskrit manuscripts were transferred to the India Office Library in 1876.
