1 copy of Rāg Darpan by Faqīr Allāh

This short manuscript is partially a Persian translation, completed by Faqīr Allāh, of a fifteenth century Sanskrit work entited 'Man Kautuhal', written under the patronage of Mānasiṃha (Man Singh Tomar) (d.1516AD). The second half of the work is an original contribution to Indian musical theory and history by Faqīr Allāh.

Provenance and Acquisition
RSPA 1-118 were presented to the Royal Society in January 1792 by Sir William and Lady Jones. This manuscript was presented by Lady Jones.
The Royal Society's collection of 280 Persian and Arabic, and 86 Sanskrit manuscripts were transferred to the India Office Library in 1876.
