This is a Persian translation of a Sanskrit work on music, completed during the reign of ʿĀlam-gīr.
On f0r, Jones has written "The Parchetuk of Ghobul on Indian Musick translated from the Thanimi by Rōshan Zameen in the reign of Aurangzeb"
Tables and diagrams passim throughout manuscript (e.g. ff54-6).

European numerals in pencil.
Condition
Fine condition. Extensive worm damage, largely repaired. Supports and guards. Some discoloration.

Standard black ink nastaʿlīq.
Decoration
Jones has written copious annotations across the text, most of which are translations of chapter headings or translations of short phrases.
Binding
Standard India Office half leather binding with wine coloured marbled endpapers. Bound together with MS RSPA 185, Kitāb-i ḥasan-i ʿishq dar ʿilm-i taṣavvuf, part of the Ashburner collection.

Provenance and Acquisition
RSPA 1-118 were presented to the Royal Society in January 1792 by Sir William and Lady Jones.
The Royal Society's collection of 280 Persian and Arabic, and 86 Sanskrit manuscripts were transferred to the India Office Library in 1876.
