Poetry of Muttaqi, 4 items (a-d)

Contents

Summary of Contents: Untitled collection of poems in a range of genres and forms by a poet baring the takhalluṣ Muttaqī. Although his identity is not clear, internal references suggest he may have written his work in India, while the bibliophile and religious flavour of his poetry may be read as a studious inclination toward Sufism. Volume not dated; datable to the late eighteenth century. Nastaʿlīq and naskh for Arabic quotations. Annotations and substantial additions in margins, severely cropped. Intermittent foliation in pencil. Later leather binding with painted and tooled medallions, damaged. Folios mostly unbound; water stains; wormhole damage, paper repairs, cropped. Condition fragile.
