Significant annotations throughout. Collation marks throughout. Discontinuous Persian foliation and in pencil. Lacking original binding. Binding of reddish brown leather, damaged (doubleurs missing, exposing roughly transcribed Persian verses and accounts on interior pasteboards), labelled. Loose folded paper wrapper (torn leaf extracted from EIC legal publication, unidentified); watermarked (lion rampant guardant holding sceptre in crowned oval frame; not dated); stained. Folios mostly unbound; cropped, wormholes, stains, some smudging of text. Owner’s inscriptions at beginning. Condition fragile.

Substantial fragment of an early draft for an untitled anthology of selected excerpts from poetic compositions in varied genres and forms by various poets, ancient and modern (such as the Kashkūl of Shaykh Bahāʾ al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad al-Ḥāris̲ī al-Jubbaʾī al-ʿĀmilī al-Bahāʾī (d. 1030/1621), mas̲navī Kharābāt, Farhang'nāmah, Muṭmaḥ al-anẓār fī al-tawḥīd, Taz̲kirat al-ʿāshiqīn, Chaman va anjuman), ascribed in a statement at the beginning to Sayyid Bandah ʿAlī Qādirī takhalluṣ Bāsiṭī.

The work is organised into three chapters termed faṣl with subdivisions termed firqah, categorising works by poets, scholars, as well as rulers and courtiers, but the current copy omits any preface, introduction, or conclusion.
