Substantial fragment from a fine copy of the official regnal chronicle commissioned by the Timurid Emperor ʿĀlamgīr I, written by Munshīʾ Muḥammad Kāẓim (d. 1092/1681), son of the historian for Emperor Shāh Jahān I, Munshīʾ ‘Amīnā’ Muḥammad Amīn ibn Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Qazvīnī.

The annalist chronicle covers the war of succession leading to the overthrow of Emperor Shāh Jahān I, and Prince Muḥammad Awrangzīb Bahādur’s accession to the throne as emperor, followed by the first ten regnal years.

Neat calligraphic nastaʿlīq.

Stamped and Persian foliation.

Binding damaged (front board consists of combed marble paper with brown leather edging over delaminating and crumbling pasteboard; back board consists of deep brown leather over delaminating and crumbling pasteboard, revealing Kaithi texts), labels.

Folios unbound; wormholes, cropped, light water stains, creased and stained edges, powdered chalk interspersed throughout.
