Colophon: (f. 259v) Completed in the morning of Sunday, 19 Rabiʻ II 1235 AH (6 February 1820) by Muḥammad ʿAṭāʾ Allāh in the suburbs of Tosham (Tūshām).

The author states that he had consulted an anonymous commentary as well as the commentaries of Mūḥammad Bāqī, and Muḥammad Riz̤ā - whom he calls the middle son of Muḥammad Akram Multānī (elsewhere also known as Ghanīmat). There is a Hadyat al-Akhyār (a commentary of Jāmī’s Tuḥfat al-Aḥrār) by Muḥammad Riz̤ā.

Condition

Worm-eaten in a few pages. Detached from binding, with stitching broken especially towards the end of the manuscript.

13 lines per page.

Hand(s)

Indian nastaʻlīq tending to shikastah; copied in black ink, with headings and overlinings in red. Copyist is Muḥammad ʿAṭāʾ Allāh who may perhaps be the same copyist as the scribe of Delhi Persian 57.

Additions:

The flyleaf contains a note about one Raḥīm-dād Khān, son of Nūr Muḥammad, resident of the middle of Multan, and his full-brother Muḥammad Karīm, another person with the name ʿAbd Allāh or ʿUbayd Allāh, someone named Ghulām Nabī and children of a qāz̤ī.

Rectangular seal of former owner who can presumably be identitified with the copyist: Muḥammad ʻAṭā Allāh Khān,1223 (1807/08) (f. 1r).
