Contents

Summary of Contents: (۱) فهرست اسماء علماء الشيعة (۲) معالم العلماء (1) Fihristu asma'i Ulama'i'sh-Shi'a (ff. 1-35), an Index of the names of
Shi'a divines, arranged alphabetically, by Shaykh Muntajabu'd-Din Abu'l-Hasan
Ali ibn Ubaydi'lláh ibnu'l-Hasan ibnu'l-Husayn ibn Bábawayhi of Qum, who
wrote it as a supplement to the Fihrist of at-Túsí. See Ahlwardt's Berlin Arabic
Catalogue, vol. ix, p. 454, No. 10048, and the Kashful-Hujub of Sayyid I'jáz
Husayn (Calcutta, 1330/1912), p. 407, No. 2250.
(2) Ma'alimul Ulama (f. 37-83), another similar work by Shaykh Rashidu'd
Din Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Shahr-áshúb as-Sarawi al-Mazandarání (d. 588/1192).
See Ahlwardt, loc. cit., No. 10047; Brockelmann, 1, 405; Kashful-Hujub, p. 532, No. 2991. Ff. 83 of 21 x 15'5 c. and 15 ll., fair naskh with rubrications. The date (Rajab
613/Oct-Nov. 1216) and scribe's name (Muḥammad ibn Muhammad ibn 'Ali
al-Hamdání al-Qazwini) contained in the first colophon (on f. 35b) evidently refer
to the original MS. from which this quite modern copy was made, and with which
it was subsequently collated. A note at the end (f. 83) written and sealed by one
Muhammad Sabih ibn 'Abdi'l-Wasi' al-Husayni, and dated Jumáda 1, 1118/Aug-
Sept., 1706, states that this MS. formerly belonged to the celebrated Shaykh
Bahá'u'd-Din al-'Ámili, one of the most noted theologians of the reign of Shah
'Abbás the Great, and contains notes and glosses in his handwriting. Acquired at
the sale of the Belshah MSS. in the latter part of 1920.
