This is different from the work known as the Hidaya in Persian based on the Arabic Hidaya of Marghinani, also undertaken for Warren Hastings and published in translation by Charles Hamilton (London 1791), and in Persian (Calcutta 1807). General Gordon's bequest of books and Turkish, Perian and Arabic manuscripts is mentioned, without details in the donations register under November 6 1841.
