This is different from the work known as the Hidaya in Persian based on the Arabic Hidaya of Marghinani, also undertaken for Warren Hastings and published in translation by Charles Hamilton (London 1791), and in Persian (Calcutta 1807). For MS of this see Ethe, No. 2613; Rieu, i, pp. 23-4. General Gordon's bequest of books and Turkish, Perian and Arabic manuscripts is mentioned, without details in the donations register under November 6 1841. The bequest is mentioned in J.R.A.S., vii, 1843, Annual Report, p. x, and the manuscripts are briefly listed in the Proceedings, pp. xxx-xxxi. Ruled and coloured margins to text. Headings in red.
