Persian Manuscripts
Contents
1 copy of Risalah i Ansab i Afghaniah by Farid al-Din Ahmad.
First flyleaf, recto: a) Title in Persian and English. b) Presented by Sir John Malcolm May 19. 1827 Folio one recto: Title in red ink in Persian, probably in the hand of the author. It is not given in the work itself. Morley rightly attributes the work to Farid al-Din Ahmad. A mistaken attribution to 'Abbas Khan Sarvani, sixteenth-century author of a history of the Afghans, is written in pencil in English on the recto of the first front flyleaf and by the colophon. This was put in print by Codrington. At the end Farid al-Din Ahmad apologises for the limitations of the work and hopes, if circumstances are favourable, to send a completion from Bushire. A very brief tract on the origins and genealogies of the Afghans. Punctuation etc in red.
