The MS began with an heavily illuminated opening but the right-hand page is now misbound, upside down, facing the front cover, with the list of contents (see above), also upside down, facing f.2a. This is evidently copied from an acephalous manuscript and opens with the second misra' from a ghazal ending in sin. The earlier letters of the alphabet are not represented. Incomplete at the end. Front flyleaf, verso, stamp the name and date filled in ink: Presented to the ROYAL ASIATIC SOCIETY by Thos Newman Esq 15 June 1839 Ruled margins and divivding panels. Major headings in gold red and maroon; red used for minor ones, emphasis and punctuation. Profusely illuminated initial opening (now misbound); panel of illumination over text of f2b. Illuminated thumbpieces and corner panels throughout. Larger illuminated panels for main headings etc. Some sections on pink paper.
