Summary of Contents: ʿAṭṭār Shīrāzī was affiliated to the court of Shāh Shujāʿ Āl-i Muẓaffar. He wrote his work for Princess Badīʿ al-Jamāl, one of the wives of Amīr Mubāriz al-Dīn. This work has an introduction, two articles, and a conclusion, the first article being about single medications and the second about mixed medications. At the beginning of each topic, the author lists the names of all medications in alphabetical order, and then details under each medication all of its medical properties. While discussing pharmacological properties of a given medication, he also cites the ideas of other medical scientists about the same medication. ʿAṭṭār Shīrāzī had first written in 767 Qamarī/1366 a work entitled 'Miftāḥ al-Khazāʾin', from which he created 'Ikhtīyārāt-i Badīʿī' later with some alterations.
