Flyleaf [vi]b gives the Latin descriptive title Arithmeticae Institutiones ex dono Sharpie; Lingua Turcica, of whicht he first two words are stuck through.

Script: Nesḫ in black ink with red ink for headings and Turkish glosses of Arabic words.

Decoration

Table and text borders in red.

Additions: Copious notes in Persian, Arabic, and Hebrew on the initial flyleaves. The Hebrew appears in Rashi and Solitreo scripts in various hands, some more skilled than others.

History

Origin: Place and date of origin unknown.

Provenance and Acquisition

Gifted to the Bodleian by someone with the surname Sharpie some time between 1613 and 1620.
