Arranged alphabetically and going from A to the end of L. It gives after the Latin word first the Turkish equivalent in Turkish characters, then in Roman characters with very accurate representation of the vowels; after that the Arabic and Persian equivalents, likewise both in Arabic and Roman characters, and usually a long list of characteristic specimens for the use of the word in question, of idiomatic phrases, compositions formed by means of it, etc. It is consequently a very rich mine of information which would repay a closer investigation. There is no indication by whom it was compiled; the handwriting belongs to the beginning or middle of the last century and is undoubtedly that of an Italian scholar; in fact, all Canonici MSS. came from Venice, see Macray, Annals of the Bodleian Library, p. 299. On a fly-leaf appears the name of Gianbattista Albrizzi of Venice, who flourished about 1740.
