Contents

1 copy of Majmūʻah-i shuʻarāʼ wa ʻurafāʼ

Opening folio of text, verso; a marginal note in red, by two impressions of a largely illegible seal, stating that the book is the possession of Mahmud Lari. Preceding the text are a list of contents on three pages followed by two miniatures. Ist folio of list of contents, recto, in pencil: J.M. 6. Flyleaf, recto: Presented by Sir J Malcolm May 19. 1827. Penultimate folio, verso: impression of round seal of Muhammad Kazim. An anthology of poetry and prose; many of the authors belong to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. An elaborate prose preface does not seem to name the compiler. Ruled margins and dividing panels. Some marginal headings etc in red. Illuminated initial opening. Headings of new items in text in black on illuminated panels. Leaves in gold in the corners of many panels of text. Paper of text sprinkled with gold and often intended to contrast with margins; margins at times tinted to contrast with white text. Preceding the text is a double page miniature of a meadow with trees among mountains, in margins decorated with floral scrolls.
