Summary of Contents: 'Tahẕīb al-Manṭiq va al-Kalām' is a work in logic (Manṭiq) and scholastic theology (Kalām) of Saʿd al-Dīn Masʿūd Taftāzānī (died 792 AH/1390). Two parts of this work have been commented on and annotated since its creation in several works. One of the most important works written on the logic part is Mullā ʻAbd Allāh Yazdī's commentary known as 'Quluhū', which is one of the main textbooks in Shiite seminaries (religious schools).

Cursive Nastaʿalīq, one hand, fairly large hand. Marginalia: Shikastah. Anonymous Titles are blank on the final folios.

Decoration

Rubricated lines above some terms and expressions.

Additions: Annotations provided on the text. There are three decease notes on the last folio, related to the year 1244 AH.

Binding

Black leather, 11 × 18 cm, front + back cover, single layer of leather only. Simple tooling (medallion + two half-medallion).

Condition

Damage to the decoration. Cover detached from the copy. Head band in disarray.

History

Origin: Unknown place of origin; Dhu al-Qidah 1054 AH; January 1645 CE
